2017 HEROES GALA – Law Enforcement Awards Gala June 17, 2017
The prestigious Rotary Lunch Club of Lake Nona is awarding Lieutenant Scott Smith of the Orlando Police Department and Orange County Sheriff Master Deputy Jeffrey Riggs with the inaugural 2017 Law Enforcement officers of the year award. Hosted at The Lake Nona Golf & Country Club on June 17, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, this event promises to be sold out.
Lieutenant Scott Smith was not only a first responder at the scene of the PULSE Nightclub massacre, but he was influential in pinning down the suspect and bringing the attacks to an end. Master Sergeant Deputy Jeffrey Riggs is also being recognized for his efforts at PULSE but was awarded for his heroic effort in saving an entire family from a retention pond while driving on a local road.
As Orlando recognizes the PULSE Nightclub Massacre this week, we dedicate this inaugural 2017 Heroes Gala to the fallen victims of PULSE, the families and the law enforcement officers who risk their lives each day to make our city safe. These officers remind us why we promote peace. They have displayed exceptional levels of bravery and courage as they risk their own lives to save others.
Come join us as we present these two outstanding officers with our prestigious award and help us recognize the officers who serve our community. Special guests include Orange County Sheriff Jerry Deming’s, Orlando Police Chief of Police John W. Mina, Commissioner John Gray, Dr. Deborah German of UCF College of Medicine and Bobby Mitchell.
