Fashion blogger and Medical professional in the pharmaceutical Industry? Who says you can’t have it all? – Because they certainly haven’t met Shabnam Rahman!
“Being close to a major city while still reaping the benefits of living in a tight-knit community was a major plus for us, especially as we thought about raising a family in the future.”
Shabnam on living in Lake Nona
I was recently honored enough to have Shabnam answer some more questions for us.
1. How long have you lived in Lake Nona?
My husband and I moved to Lake Nona last summer, so it’s been a little less than a year for us now.
2. What is your profession/occupation?
I work in regulatory affairs within the pharmaceutical industry. Most people look at me with a blank stare when I say that but to put it simply: regulatory affairs professionals are responsible for high quality, safe and effective medicines and healthcare products being available worldwide
3. Favorite hobbies?
Coming from a family of girls, I have always loved fashion. In my free time, I like to micro-blog on Instagram, posting casual, effortless and real outfits I wear in real life. I want my followers, who are looking for easy ways to elevate their everyday life, to come and be inspired as I style closet staples with affordable and attainable versions of the latest trends. My goal is to to women that you can still be stylish without spending a ton of money by styling pieces multiple ways to make the most of your closet.
Eventually, I would also like to delve into providing health/wellness tips for multi-faceted working women and moms as well, which is another passion of mine. I want to be a resource for real women to provide practical tips that they can easily apply for a more put-together and elevated every day.
4. What is it about Lake Nona that made you want to start a business/work here over anywhere else in Orlando?
My husband and I both grew up in big cities (I am from Boston and he is from Fort Lauderdale) so being close to a major city while still reaping the benefits of living in a tight knit community was a major plus for us, especially as we thought about raising a family in the future. On top of that, we are both in healthcare so when we found out about the prospects and plans for Lake Nona and Medical City, we got excited for what is ahead for the area.
5. What would make Lake Nona an even better place to live for you?
I think the one thing Lake Nona is lacking is more locally owned businesses. I love to support and shop local whenever I can! Also, since our community is so health and wellness oriented, it would be nice to see healthier dining options as well.
6. Favorite restaurant in Lake Nona?
Hands down it must be Canvas – great food, good coffee, with the option to shop for knick-knacks, and all with a water front view. What more can a girl ask for?
7. What do you love most about Lake Nona Social?
It’s a struggle to figure out what’s going on and find things to do when you’re new to an area. Lake Nona Social does a great job highlighting local events and what is up and coming and you do it so proactively too!
8. Where can we find you on social media?
I am @hopelessrahmantics on Instagram. It was our wedding hashtag and I am obsessed
