Hey Lake Nona neighbors! There’s some development news on the horizon. Tavistock, the mastermind developer behind so much of what makes Lake Nona special, is at it again with plans for a new flex industrial park and a sprawling mixed-use district.

Flex Industrial Park Project

First up, let’s talk about the new flex industrial park planned near the USTA National Training Center. Last week, Orlando’s Development Review Committee gave the green light to Tavistock’s proposal for a five-warehouse complex spanning 15.75 acres just west of Lake Nona Boulevard. These warehouses will offer a combined 209,800 square feet of space, with individual buildings ranging from 35,000 to 50,000 square feet. The buildings will be single-story but can reach up to 35 feet tall, thanks to a special height waiver. To make things even more connected, Tavistock will construct a brand-new road called Performance Drive, linking Lake Nona Boulevard to Wellspring Drive.

According to Tavistock’s Senior VP, Skipper Peek, this project will provide highly versatile spaces known as “flex space.” These can accommodate a variety of uses, from office and warehouse setups to light manufacturing. And there’s a fun twist — the space might also host indoor sports facilities like volleyball courts, basketball courts, or batting cages. How cool would that be?

Lake Nona South Project

But that’s not all! Tavistock is also gearing up for something even bigger. Across from the new Target-anchored Lake Nona West shopping center, plans are in motion for a 132.4-acre mixed-use district called Lake Nona South. While the details are still in the works, the vision includes airport-support industrial facilities and more infrastructure to bolster Medical City.

Tavistock’s reputation for delivering top-notch developments is well-earned. They’ve successfully launched projects like the award-winning Infinity Park and International Corporate Park in Sunbridge. Here in Lake Nona, they’ve been busy too! From breaking ground on the Kelson apartments to expanding Boxi Park and planning a new outdoor concert venue, it’s clear they’re dedicated to enriching our neighborhood. And let’s not forget the upcoming regional park and Southeast Community and Government Center, complete with a library, arriving in 2026.

Recap

The new flex industrial park is designed to address the high demand for small bay spaces in southeast Orlando. Peek noted that businesses looking for modern features like high ceilings and loading docks have limited options in the area. With these new facilities, Lake Nona will be positioned to attract a diverse range of businesses and activities, creating opportunities for everyone in the community.

Lismarie Gomez, a spokeswoman for Tavistock, shared that this project aligns perfectly with Lake Nona’s vision of blending functionality, modern design, and strategic location. These new spaces will offer something truly unique — flexibility and innovation that traditional office spaces can’t match.

So, Lake Nona friends, keep an eye on the horizon as these exciting projects unfold. Whether it’s for work, play, or a little bit of both, there’s so much to look forward to in our growing community. Let’s celebrate the progress and dream big for the future of Lake Nona!
