Sunday, August 26 was day one at Amazon’s new fulfillment center in Lake Nona. The new Amazon Robotics facility will pick, pack, and ship smaller customer items such as books, household items, and toys.
New associates were greeted with high fives by the fulfillment center’s leadership and Knightro, the University of Central Florida’s mascot, as they entered the new building on a special orange carpet. After a morning of learning and fun activities, associates received the first item into the new building: a BESTEK 5-Port USB Charging Station.
Amazon continues to hire associates for its newest building. Amazon associates receive highly competitive wages and comprehensive benefits, including healthcare starting on day one, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, 401(k) and company stock awards. Amazon offers full-time employees innovative programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon. Since the program’s launch, employees are pursuing degrees in game design and visual communications, nursing, IT programming and radiology, to name a few.
