Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2019) – XL Soccer World broke ground in Lake Nona on a new, $8 million 50,000-square-foot, fully air-conditioned and indoor athletic complex. This marks the company’s 10th location and the first to be built from the ground up. The new facility is expected to open in the summer of 2020.

“I’m really excited to reach the next milestone in this project,” said Ciaran McArdle, XL Soccer World CEO. “As a resident in this community, it’s an amazing opportunity to bring our first-class facilities to an active community like Lake Nona and to better serve south Orlando.”

The new complex will be located off Narcoossee Road less than one mile south of SR 417 behind Valencia College’s Lake Nona campus and near the Lake Nona Landing shopping center. The facility will feature two, six-versus-six 4G boarded turf fields and two multi-surface fields. In addition to soccer, the fields can also be used to play Futsal, lacrosse, flag football, and volleyball.

“We’re excited to have XL Soccer World add to Lake Nona’s growing list of options for athletes of all ages joining the USTA National Campus, Drive Shack, and Nona Adventure Park,” said Andy Odenbach, Vice President of Sports Ventures for Tavistock Development Company.

This marks the second XL Soccer World location in Orlando and the 10th in the U.S. When visitors are off the field, they can enjoy a break in the soccer-themed pub outfitted with 20 large-screen TVs airing the day’s best domestic and international soccer games. The fields and soccer pub are also available for rentals and birthday parties.

XL Soccer World’s child and adult leagues will be open throughout the year. Youth developmental programs are available for children ages 2-14 led by professional XL coaching staff. Adult leagues include co-ed, men’s, women’s, over 30, and over 40 groups. Pick-up times will also be available. XL Soccer World’s Lake Nona location will also see the first-of-its-kind, non-residential, full-time soccer academy lead by former Manchester United and England player, Alan Smith.

XL Soccer World joins a growing list of other resident-owned businesses active in Lake Nona. Earlier this year, Lake Nona announced three resident-owned businesses for the community’s Pixon apartments including Club Pilates, Rukus Cycling Studios, and Florida’s first location of Neighborhood barre™.
