Brightline just got the go-ahead from the state to negotiate for land to add Brightline high-speed rail service from Orlando to Tampa. Brightline has 90 days to work out terms with the Central Florida Expressway Authority to build the train service along Interstate 4.
Brightline route will be 88-miles long and would require 44-foot-wide spaces along I-4. Stations would be expected in Orlando, Tampa, and the Celebration and Lakeland areas.
Brightline recently signed a deal with the Virgin Group investment firm. Brightline is planning to rename the company Virgin Trains USA.
